Episode 10: James Patrick Cronin, Narrator

In this episode I’m chatting with the talented, passionate, award-winning and handsomely bearded James Patrick Cronin! We chat about Monsters, magic, being an actor, a narrator, and a proud and active member of the SAG-AFTRA union… and there’s even a surprise announcement in the mix that you’re not going to want to miss!

James Patrick Cronin is one of the most prolific narrators in the industry today, having recorded over 500 titles in just 6 years. He has earned seven Audie nominations and several Earphones Awards for his work in a variety of genres. He has voiced New York Times, Wall Street Journal and USA Today Bestsellers, Edgar nominees, and a National Book Award finalist. His audio work has made several Best Of The Year lists, and this summer he had the pleasure of reading selections from all the finalists’ work live at the Nebula Awards in Pittsburgh.

He holds an MFA in Acting and a Bachelor’s in Philosophy from East Tennessee State University. He has recently returned to his hometown, Los Angeles, where he lives with his wife and fellow narrator Julie McKay and their pitbull, Latona.

Episode 9: Chris Philbrook, Author

So, first off, this was one of my absolute favorite interviews but BE WARNED: we need like a double-explicit tag, at least for the opening… Chris and I were either extremely tired or drinking heavily, and quite possibly both!

Chris Philbrook is the creator and author of Adrian’s Undead Diary, The Reemergence, Colony Lost, The Phone, and the fantasy world of Elmoryn. Chris has several years of experience working in game development and editing as well as writing fiction for several major game design companies. He has a business degree as well as a psychology degree.

Chris has authored nine novels in the horror/post-apocalyptic series Adrian’s Undead Diary, as well as four urban fantasy novels in The Reemergence series, and three dark fantasy novels in The Kinless Trilogy. His first science fiction novel; Colony Lost has received stellar reviews.. He has also edited two anthologies, and has had numerous short stories and novellas published in the horror world.

Chris calls the wonderful state of New Hampshire his home. He is an avid reader, writer, role player, miniatures game player, video game player, husband, and father to two little girls.

Join Chris and me as we talk about his extensive writing portfolio, his writing process, dragons, zombies, and various other undead creatures (including the ghost of a Southern Belle that actually lives in his house)!

Get a peek into what Chris is working on now, what he’s got coming up – and even a few spoilers dropped here and there!

Episode 8: Redemption Song, Story

If you’re familiar with Urban Fantasy and/or this Podcast, you may have heard of someone by the name of Quincy Harker, Demon Hunter – penned by author John G. Hartness, and narrated by yours truly. Well, familiar or no, this standalone short story is a real treat and I’m thrilled to be able to share it with you!

A man steps into a bar. Cards stop flying across the felt. Drinks stop sliding down the bar. The piano player freezes mid-note. Trouble has arrived, and it wears its gun for all the world to see.

This atmospheric tale of love and justice has more in common with High Plains Drifter than with most Quincy Harker stories, but lives in the same world. Magic, whiskey, cards, cash, and bullets blend together in a creepy tale of revenge and redemption.

Saddle up, partner – we’re hitting the Wild West tonight!
